In less than 1 hour, I have my first follow up visit with my weight loss Dr. I'm actually looking forward to it. I can't remember exactly what I weighed when I went in (somewhere over 190 lbs), but I know I've met the goal for the month.

Someone asked about yo-yoing in relation to what the Dr. said. Basically, carbs are to me what alcohol is to an alcoholic. Grant it, my liver will likely not die from it and I won't be a severe burden on my family and friends for consuming them, but it's my addiction. Sad or lonely - I consume more and then some. I decided that I would treat this like it was a true addiction. The Dr. said that those who adopt a low carb lifestyle can do well and maintain. Presently, I'm taking medications to help suppress my appetite and keep my insulin level low so as to help me cure the desire for carbs. He also stated that he has 2 clients he sees. The ones he sees more often, and are more profitable to him, or those who try to maximize their carb intake once they reach their goal (sadly, they tend to go over and gain). Those who carb minimize - don't push it every day but can still enjoy some low carb meals on occassion - he rarely sees. The latter will be me.

This is my last and final serious go at losing weight and wanted to get all the help I could. My husband has decided to join me with consuming low carbs as well (easier to cook this way) and my children are benefiting as well from it. The way your children are eating my age 7 defines how they will consume foods. I don't force them to eat all their meals - but I stress eating the fresh veggies and protein (carbs can be left behind).

Overall, I'm feeling good. Low energy on some days, but the clothing is loose and I'm looking forward to actually fitting into a lot of summer clothes I haven't been able to for the past 2 years. At present, I weigh less than I did when I had both my children (about 185 lbs at the start with each).

My goal by June is to be at least another 10-14 lbs lighter. I'm going on vacation with the hubby to the Northeast and then visiting my family and friends (I'm going to love showing off my new look). This is what is keeping me going - that, and a healthier and better me.

Weighed in at 178.8 lbs and the Dr's office. I had a 15 lb weight loss in 1 month (I attribute at least 4 lbs to illness). Very excited!

Congratulations on your terrific progress over the last month - you're obviously doing it right this time!! You must feel wonderful, and I'm sure you'll easily lose the same again by June for your holiday. Good luck!! :)
