I don't know which calorie count to trust: the gym equipment's or this site's. I'm more inclined to believe the Fat Secret counter, but only because it is always higher than what the equipment says.
For example, I went to the gym today and did 15 minutes of cardio on the treadmill. My heard rate was always above 150 and got up to 174 at some times. Then I went on the bike for another 15 minutes with the resistance high and going about 15mph. My heart rate was about 140-152 the whole time. Total, the machines said I burned less than 200 calories.
But when I come to FS and enter the exercise, it says I burned almost twice that.
Any one else have this issue?

This calculator [http://www.aolhealth.com/tools/calories-burned?sem=1&ncid=AOLHTH00170000000017&s_kwcid=TC|11093|calories||S|b|4802960810] says your 15 min of bike burned 202 calories. They don't have "treadmill" as an option, but 15 min of brisk walking on a firm surface = 77 cal. Total = 279
This one [http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc], which claims to be The Most Accurate Calories Burned Estimator on the web, says your 15 min of walking burned 104 cal and your 15 min of cycling - depending on how many miles you covered - could have burned up to 213. Total = 317
In the end, all the calculators are pretty much like my scale. Each has a mind of its own. I don't even look at how many calories are burned during exercise cuz what is one to do with that information, exactly? I suppose if you're committing to burning "x" calories a day or a week in exercise, it would be relevant, but if you're thinking, "Huzzah! I burned 300 calories so now I get Ben & Jerry's for dinner!" then I say PSH! Just figure exercise as good for your lungs and muscles and something that smooths out the rimples (not that you have any of that yet).

PS: FS oh-so-helpfully truncated the Hades out of those URLs. Thank you, FS. Just Google "calculating calories burned" and you'll find a bunch of tools.

The most accurate way to gauge calories burned is to wear a heart rate monitor. They have watches now with build in monitors. Machines have been known to be off. How many calories your burn is based on your age, current weight, exercise intensity, etc. So the more information a machine takes, the more accurate it becomes. Not real sure about the calorie calculators online. I have found them to be pretty accurate (those that take a lot of information about you and the exercise.) If you really want accuracy though, heart monitor is the way to go.
