Here's a question for anyone that may have some reference information. I'm eating a HFLC Keto diet. I only eat one meal per day. Zero problems. I don't get hungry during the day, and am only mildly hungry by dinner time. My problem is that most of the research that I find says that calorie restriction will tank your metabolism. Sooo, how do I get enough calories when only eating one meal per day. If I really cram myself full, I might get 1,200 calories in. Occasionally, another 130 for MCT oil in my morning coffee, and I'm still only at 1,300 - 1,400 calories per day. Am I reading the literature wrong? On an OMAD plan, do I not worry about eating enough calories daily to protect metabolism? Any resources on this would be greatly appreciated.

I would only worry about this if you're not losing weight at a rate that's acceptable to you. Also calorie restriction is moralize under 600 calories a day. Have you read the Guide to Fasting by Dr Jason Fung? this is often discussed on his facebook group but I haven't found it to be a problem.

Thanks Michelle. I've watched a lot of Dr. Fung's talks on YouTube, but hadn't seen him address total caloric intake. I'll check out the book.

That is good advice. There are also books out on OMAD by other authors. I know some people eat while preparing their meal (like olives and cheese) and they wind up eating a whole lot more in calories by doing this. It still counts as your one meal. (I think).

Just my opinion, but 1300 to 1400 calories a day seems low for a man of your size, long term at least. Have you considered having more than just 1 meal a day?

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I'm going to keep on with this as long as I'm not having hunger issues. I'll assume that I'm getting enough calories from Ketones and plug along.
