When I went to the seminar to learn about the program I'm on, the nurse said that most people lost twenty-five to forty pounds in the first twelve weeks. I was determined to be one of the people who came in closer to forty. Now, five weeks in, I've crossed the twenty-five pound mark. I'm right on track.

As the weight comes off, I feel like I'm going slowly back in time, undoing the damage to my body. Last year I was at 244, so that's a year of stress-eating I've undone. When I reach 227, that will be another year gone, and I'll be back to the size I was when I bought my wedding dress. 207 is what I weighed before I was put on that disastrous medication and my weight skyrocketed. I got my weight down to 170 after radiation treatment. 160 is what I weighed before I was diagnosed with cancer in high school.

It's like all these little traumas are slowly being healed as I remove the weighty evidence.
