It depends on how long and how heavy your are lifting. It takes a while for women to build actual muscle (compared to men). If you are new to certain exercise, your muscles will retain water to help them heal, which can show as a temporary gain on the scale. Google "why the scale lies" for insight in to water weight fluctuations.
