Evil_Angel_Shay's Logboek, 03 aug 10

Jogging wasn't fun today, but I SURVIVED!! Started wk 4 of C25K. Wasn't sure if I could do it. Kept trying to talk myself out of it while I was going. And somewhere near the end of my 1st 5 min interval it dawned on me, "You've already jogged for 5 mins @ 4mph. You were doing intervals for 75 mins doing that over a month ago." So yeah, my genius is showing. It still wasn't the joy of my life to be doing it, but I did. And at the end, after I walked for 2 mins, I jogged the last minute & a half of my workout. I'm curious to know just how long I can jog before absolute failure occurs in my legs.

I didn't workout yesterday do to a really busy & shitty day! I was so exhausted & having drank 32oz of brew coffee (never had more than 16oz before today & only recently started drinking it), I was SO not feeling well. So I ended up having to do both upper & lower body workouts today. YAY!!!

Bench Press: 3 sets/12 reps w/ 40/45/50lbs
Bent Over Barbell Row: 3 sets/12 reps w/ 50lbs
Dumbbell Shoulder Press: 3 sets/12 reps w/ 15lbs
Skull Crusher: 2 sets/12 reps w/ 25lbs & 1 set/8 reps w/ 30lbs
Barbell Curl: 2 sets/12 reps w/ 35lbs & 1 set/12 reps w/ 40lbs
Barbell Squat: 3 sets/12 reps w/ 35lbs
Stiff-Legged Deadlifts: 3 sets/12 reps w/ 45lbs
Leg Extension: 3 sets/12 reps w/ 50lbs
Lying Leg Curl: 3 sets/12 reps w/ 50lbs
Standing Calf Raises: 3 sets/12 reps w/ 45lbs
Exercise Ball Crunches: 3 sets/15 reps w/ 10lbs

I've stepped up the actual poundage I've been using. Needless today I experience failure . . . and not in the best situation. I was doing Skull Crushers & on the 8th rep of my final set my arms gave out completely when I was trying to push the barbell up. Thankfully it didn't really land on me as my hands kept it from hitting me in the chest. I had to wait a couple of mins before I could wiggle my hands out to the sides of the barbell & do a press up to get the barbell back in place. I did complete that last one, but just barely. My sister was not happy to hear about that. So I'll definitely have to be careful & on that exercise I won't be increasing the weights next week.

I'm super sore & tired now. I have an exam to take in the morning for a county "office specialist" postion I applied for last month. I've taken this test before & scored in the top 5 (it's not difficult at all). I'm trying not to get my hopes up though b/c I don't know the hours/days & it's full-time. I want it, but I'm in school also. That's why I didn't get the last job 4 years ago. So we'll see if I get to take a 2 hr test (didn't take me that long before) for nothing.

Alright, time to send off some recipes & hop in the shower. Hope everyone is doing well = )

Ok.. good job on the running.. and are you doing weights alone? Or are you in a gym where if you got in real trouble someone could help you? Cause if you are doing this alone in your basement.. I am officially upset with you.. go and get dumbbells if you are at home alone.. we have dumbbells up to 65 lbs each or 75 I am not sure cause I never go that high.. but you need to be careful. I have a friend who was a paramedic and he has told me horror stories of people at they gym literally knocking off the top of their head with a bar bell.. so be carful. use a spotter or dumbbells!!

Ceebee, you are spot on for being upset w/ me! I'm lifting weights alone in my garage. Usually there's another adult in the house that would be able to hear me if I screamed, but last night it was me & my 11 yr old nephew. He probably would have been able to help somewhat but if it had been a really bad situation he wouldn't have. I know very well the dangers of weight lifting. I know a guy who crushed his chest having a barbell fall on him. I was quite worried about this when I started. W/ all the exercises I'm doing, Skull Crusher is the only one that I have to be super super careful doing. Even if I used dumbbells which would be scarier to me b/c I've been known to freely drop dumbbells. I told my sister I would make sure that I'm only doing my weights when there's another adult around & for that exercise & a few others I'll pull someone out into the garage w/ me. No point in getting fit if I kill myself in the process! = )

wow babe you've really been rocking the work outs lately... great job! Way to push through the running and the weights... I hate running more then anything... it is definitely a hard thing to push through... you should definitely be way proud! Keep up the great work! :)

Definately good luck on the job and to echo what Shia try to get someone to spot for you if possible. That could of been a dangerous situation.

Yes I will definitely be more careful w/ the weights. If having a spotter around everytime I worked out was possible I would, but it's not. Plus when someone is around they really don't want to do it. If all goes well w/ getting things settled for school, I'll be back in a gym on the 23rd. As for the job, the exam was a waste of time. Stupid easy! Why the county can't have that timed online is beyond me! That & they don't post the hours/days for the job w/ the job description. It's a M-F 9-5 position, so I really wasted my time b/c I can't work those hours. So I gave up vitally needed sleep for another dead end. If getting out of this town/county were a possiblity at the moment, then I certainly would.

That's fantastic! I do have to reprimand you about the weight lifting without a spotter...NEVER a good idea! As Ceebee said, dumbbells are a much better choice if you're weight lifting alone. Keep it up, you're doing great!

You're doing great girl! I fizzled out after the first day of weight training last week! I need to get back on it. I'm trying to be like you! Go girl.
