I went to the wound care doctor yesterday. I have a terrible looking fourth toe. It's all black and red and looks like it's going to peel off. Dr told me I have a 60% chance of keeping my toe. This is so stressful. I have to be careful not to stress eat. After I was in the ER I stressed so bad that we had two days of not eating good things for us. 2 days of Burger King, Chinese takeout the evening which was very salty and then we ate ice cream, and then we ate a Dunkin' Donut. That is really out of character for me because I don't even like ice cream. I haven't had a donut in Forever, and we don't typically eat Chinese takeout because we know it's very salty. I got back on track yesterday, took my medication, ate good food and today I'm back down where I started. Thank God I didn't gain fat pounds and the water came back off quickly.

That’s not good! My labs showed pre diabetes levels Off and on for awhile. Dr didn’t seem worried because of my age. I cut out regular pop, added in the occasional diet pop and started back to the gym and my next labs were normal. I go back this summer to check them again. I’m not a carb counter, love them, so I hope they never tell me I have to cut that out. They did say to limit my sugar however sometimes I feel light headed and sick for no reason and a handful of candy or a candy bar or pop sets me straight. They think my blood sugar may dip too low in the afternoons sometimes especially when I was younger. But that’s when I was eating honey buns for breakfast and drinking Coke all day except the afternoons lol.

peeperjj, Please be aware the low BS is also a symptom of type 2 diabetes. T2D is characterized by excess insulin, which can cause low blood sugar. Over time, insulin contributes to weight gain and increased insulin resistance, leading to high BS readings. Treating T2D with meds, or weight loss, isn't a cure; nobody knows yet if it can actually be cured.

I'm very sorry about your wound and I hope it heals soon. I wouldn't chance eating one thing with sugar in it and keep your carbs low. Intermittent Fasting is definitely a helpful treatment for helping regulate blood sugar. You could eat all of your meals within an 8 hour window and fast for 16 hours. I don't want you to lose your toe!

Thank you NY Shelly for your advice. Much appreciated. I was stress-eating the other day. And I ate everything that I shouldn't have. When I saw the wound care doctor last Thursday she said there was a 40% chance I might lose the toe. That really freaked me out. I did not know It was even black on the bottom until I asked my husband To take a picture of my foot underneath. Last year I had three toes that were black the same way and it peeled off like a scab. I did not lose my toes. PTL I am watching my carbs now. .
