I've been waiting to journal until I could be upbeat and happy. Alas, I find myself drawn to sit and write out my thoughts and frustrations, as well as enduring hope for my future.
My energy has been lagging, my fatigue increasing, at the same time my determination to improve my fitness and health drives me almost daily to the gym. My MS symptoms worsen; fatigue, tremors, dizziness, memory lapses. I use my caffeine-enhanced energy to do Zumba or Bodypump & CXWORX, fixing increasingly simple healthy meals.
My energy to resist temptation of my clean & healthy treats I've made has lessened, or the Nothing bundt Cakes bundtlet my partner brought home, or the few pieces of See's....
I've discovered some wonderful healthy foods at the farmer's market; loving the nutbutters; pumpkin seed last week, pistachio this week. Mix a tablespoon with a couple tablespoons of nonfat plain greek yogurt & I have a wonderful topping for toast. Add a little local habanero jelly for an out-of-this-world taste treat delight. Add a little more greek yogurt & it's a great dip for baby carrots or jicama sticks.
I see my neurologist on Monday, and will discuss my worsened symptoms, the new medication my primary care doctor prescribed for the muscle tightness that keeps me awake at night; is it really mild spasticity from my MS? Who knows what comes next?
I know that I'm enjoying overcoming each challenge I face, enjoying tightening my abs, tucking my tummy from the inside out. Sure, the loose skin stays, but I can see some definition, woo hoo! I know that I will continue to do the best I can do.
Sometimes I get scared and a bit depressed about what my future holds, but I know that with the support of my partner, my fatsecret family, and my friends at the gym, I'll keep doing my best.
Yesterday I went to Zumba fatigued, the room was hot, and after 30 minutes, I could barely stand up. My balance was off, my muscles weren't working properly, I felt like I couldn't catch my breath. I stumbled over to one of my friends, explained that I was leaving, and grabbed my water bottle. She followed me, concerned, but I told her I'd be fine.
I retrieved my purse from my locker & was on my way out when my friend tracked me down. She had gotten an ice pack from the front desk, escorted me to some comfortable chairs, and sat and talked with me until she was convinced I would be able to drive. She asked the route I was taking and insisted I go straight home & text her or she would come after me. Now that's a friend! I did go straight home. :o)
