James Haddox's Logboek, 22 apr 20

I started trying to lose back in Decemeber of last year and one thing I was completely unaware of was that there would be plateaus in my weight loss. Sometimes very long plateuas. I read a lot of articles about diet, exercise, and healthy weigh goals prior to starting my diet and exercise regiment. I was pushing myself to try to lose an average of 2 lbs per week. I figured there would be some weeks I'd only lose a pound or so but some weeks I'd lose more than 2 pounds. What I was completely unprepared for is the long plateaus I've been experiencing.

It's the weirdest thing. I won't make any changes to my diet or exercise program and not have any cheat meals. For several weeks in a row I'll drop weight fast and then all of a sudden it stops and the pounds just won't come off. I just keep sticking to my diet and exercise program and maybe a week or two later the pounds start coming off again easily.

In all the research I did, I never read anything that said there would be times that I just wouldn't lose weight regardless of what I was doing. I got pretty discouraged because I hit one of those plateuas like a month after I started dieting and exercising. It was frustrating to be eating healthy and working out before work when all I wanted was fast food and to go back to bed lol.

I've talked to several of my friends that have lost a lot of weight and they all have experienced the same things to various degrees. I thought I'd share because it would have helped me a lot to have known that before I started. So if you hit a plateau, don't give up! Keep sticking with what you've been doing that worked and the weight will start coming off again.
