The month of June was tough. I was balancing my fitness progress with having 2 foot surgeries, one of which caused a painful week-long recovery. I'm also spending a lot of time on Physical Therapy on an unrelated worker's comp case.
I ended May by shifting from working out 3 days a week to 4 days a week, and it was feeling greeeaaaat! I was happy with my progress, and very happy in general as I felt balanced. Even when I had my first medical procedure 5 weeks ago, I was able to get up and walk around 2 days after with minimal pain and even had a slow, easy workout just 4 days out. That was on my left foot.
My right foot has a different story. It was the exact same procedure, which happened a week ago. I am still feeling pain and have not worked out. I just stretch sometimes. Every day I wake up hoping that it'll be day to work on my muscles, but that right foot has other plans for me. Sometimes I feel like walking makes it hurt, so I have to be mindful. I haven't been on a neighborhood stroll in over a week, and that was a sure highlight in these quarantine times. It's okay. I'm glad they were able to fix me up, and I am learning to be patient.
I am moving a lot less now, and my body is going through a lot changes with the meds that come along with the medical procedure and recovery treatment plan. And -- and this is the best part -- I still feel so much fitter because I had worked out consistently for a couple of months. I find that it's easier not to slouch.
My back looks amazing. I focused a lot on that lately, as well as upper body in general. Today, I'm wearing a shirt that is torn all throughout the back and there are no rolls to worry about! I went outside and didn't feel weird about it. I love that non-scale victory.
So, to my monthly numbers:
Last month: June 2020 Weight 145 lbs Body Fat 37%
This month: July 2020 Weight 146.5 lbs Body Fat 37.9%
To be expected. I actually love that I don't feel emotions about this increase. It's just an increase. It's merely data. I know life is good, and I feel blessed. The data I am tracking also shows that I've been increasing my muscle mass since December, which is phenomenal. I feel good and am taking care of my health, and that's what matters.
Happy Sunday, FS!
