Hi, my name is Raul I'm from Puerto Rico. I'm 47 yrs old. When I was younger I had an athletic way of life. I used to play basketball every day. I weighed 175 lb with my 5'9" tall. After 22 happily married years I went from an athletic way of life to a very sedentary way of life. I gained over 70 pounds, especially around my waist, were I reached my worst weigh ever 245 lb. Puerto Rican food is very high in carbohydrates and fat, specially fried foods(chicken, pork chops)and rice and beans among other delightful but unhealthy meals. Back in 2011, we went on a family vacation to Orlando, Fl. When we came back home, we started to see our memorabilia and there was the detonator to do something with my life. Every single picture where I was, I looked awful. My body looked like a pear. I had to do something. I started to do exercises on my own, but I didn't make changes in my ways to eat. Nothing improves. After summer 2012, I started to change my diet but I didn't do any exercises. Nevertheless I lost 24 lbs between August and December 2012. I felt awesome. 2013 was very hard for me, I lost my mother, my wife loose her job but, after all I kept my weigh between 226 to 228 lb. I started 2014 with my New Year's resolution. I have to reach 195 lb by May 2014 and loose one or two waist sizes. On February, just by luck, I discovered this web page. It is amazing and it is my guideline to monitoring my food. Also I started to do exercises more often at my local Planet Fitness gym. I wish to tell everyone about this page and how it help to improve your ways to eat and do exercises to achieve your goals in fitness and health.

I am also new to the site...just 4 days now, and couldn't agree with you both more. I am 54 now and weight becomes harder to take off than in previous years. My goal is 10 lbs...sounds easy enough, but my weight goes up a few pounds when I increase weight lifting. I do 45 minutes everyday cardio on an incline treadmill. Weights 3 times a week. We built our own gym with a Hoist weight machine and Lifefitness treadmill, free weights etc. I really enjoy not having to leave the house for a gym. That said,I do however miss the inner and outter thigh machines. When I recently did a search for groups in my age range...no matches came up. I enjoy reading the posts here and find motivation in them, but wonder if they are near my age? I have already shared the web site with my adult daughters who do not need to loose weight, rather the benifits and raised awareness of the food log and the balance, or imbalaces that it reveils. Excellent tool!

Congratulations on your weight loss! you will meet some very determined people who lost quiet alot of weight and these people are for real! Their photos are not photoshopped so keep logging your weight and your foods and exercise, read notifications and you are on the right track with supportive people! you can do it!

YOGI...I don't believe it was" by luck" that you found this website! :D When you came back from vacation "there was the detonator to do something",You *thought*you had to do something, you "started to do exercises","After summer 2012 you started to change your diet",your* thoughts* changed to "I feel awesome",altho 2013 "was hard on you,you kept your weight between 226-228 & started a New Years resolution to reach 195 by May",*then* in Feb you discover this web page"....look at all YOU *did* that set things in motion for you to find what YOU needed!!! There is a reason for every thing :D some call it the cause & the effect...beCAUSE you seen the vacation photos the effect was you *thought* something & that *thought* CAUSED an EFFECT for you to take action! Regardless of our being aware of it or not,it is our *thoughts* that *move us* to take action. Whether those actions are helpful or harmful depends a great deal on our thoughts. But please dont just take my word for it,check it out for yourself :D Be more aware of what you THINK & then watch what action you take. :D It's quite powerful!
