2 Big 2 Fail's Logboek, 18 feb 14

Snow in Western NY. Anything other than subzero temperatures is good...even if it's heavy snow.

Shoveled snow for 1/2 hour in a short sleeve shirt. When the temperature hit the 20's it was like a heat wave. I started with my winter coat but threw it in my truck and did the whole driveway that way. The street wasn't plowed so they'll plow me in later but I have to get to work. Didn't break a sweat during the whole time and didn't get cold.

I heard you tend to burn brown fat (brown adipose tissue) when it cold and you can burn extra calories because it has more blood vessels. I don't believe they understand it all but if exposing yourself to the cold during exercising raises your metabolism I believe that's a good thing.

The unfortunate thing is the brown fat doesn't normally reside around the middle. It's usually on the back and neck area but I'm pretty sure it will work out eventually if you keep at it.
