Sandy701's Logboek, 10 feb 11

Too chilly and windy for me today, so no walking. Stairmaster it is.

For the first time, I needed NO SUPPORT doing the hills on SM!! But, I did let my heart rate go to 155 on that last one....but I was so-o-o close to the top and I thought I could handle the higher HR for that long. It maxed out at 155 right at the top/end and I've lived to tell the tale. I've pretty much tried to keep my HR at 145 max and if it goes higher, I'll lean in for support which will make my HR stop climbing. Nothing feels bad....I'm just following the training recommendations for a person of my age. :(

Testing out a protein bar recipe I found over on Atkins. So far, it's coming up with a bit more in calories and slightly more in carbs than I'd like, but it avoids the sugar alcohols except for the erythritol in Truvia. It was supposed to set up in about 2 hours in the 'frig, but it's still wa-a-a-ay too soft. DH put it in the freezer while I was on Stairmaster, so we'll see if that helps. Not sure how many servings I'll make out of it, so I've only "saved" the details of the full batch so far.

Interesting.....let me know how it turns out! Are you still avoiding the Reddi Wip? I have been trying not to eat any also...so far none this week!

Thanks Information! Yes, Stef...no ReddiWip since I first began the "test." Good for you on passing up the RW! Gotta save those hidden carbs whenever possible. The bars did not come out as expected. Yes, they firmed up in the freezer but as soon as they were brought out to room temp, they became dough-like all over again. I'm actually thinking that there may have been a missing ingredient in the posted recipe - perhaps almond meal or ground flax meal. I may have to go see if I can find the original posting and ask if there's something missing. They're kind of like extra gooey pieces of fudge-like dessert, if that makes any sense.
