shirfleur1, the texture of these are like spaghetti made from pickled pig skin. and pretty much flavorless. that's the best I can describe it.

you have to rely on the sauce for taste, but getting past the chewy, rubbery texture is the biggest feat

Rick is correct, the texture is a bit rubbery and they don't have much taste alone, but are meant to be cooked with whatever sauce you're using to absorb the flavor. I'm wondering if boiling for a few minutes first might help the texture...

@ Shirfleur -- I use them to bulk up stir fries, cassaroles, soups, etc. They have little to offer but bulk . They fill you up for practically no calories. And are useful for this purpose. Sometimes you just want to eat more, but don't need more meat and veggies. I like to use them.

I've been looking into Shiritaki noodles. They are pricey at $5 a pack. Textual description sounds interesting. May just have to give it a try.
