I have decided to start doing some exercise daily. I am starting very slow and then increase a bit weekly. Today I rode the stationary bike that I have had in my sun room for years, for 10 minute. It is not a lot I know but it is a start. Walking for me is tough as I have arthritis in both knees. I am hoping that as the weight comes off walking will be doable.

Great job! You might also look in to upper body workouts with light hand weights (when you are ready). That way you can tone the upper body as you tone the lower body.

When I first started exercising,the most I could do was 10 minutes on a treadmill walking very slow. Two months later, I was able to walk fast for 30 minutes. How about going to the gym on those nights when your husband is working night shifts. One can not loose weight and keep it off without working out. Good luck.

Slowly increase your workout and you will do just fine. Those that jump right into intense cardio often fail because it is too much for your body and your mind. Go you!

I started doing short walks around the neighborhood with my husband last spring. Just on the weekends. When I got really serious in September because of a challenge I could go for longer. At first I was afraid to go alone because I fall. Now I walk in the park or along the river path. It's nice and smooth so I don't fall and I can go longer. I'm up to about 4 1/2 miles on days that I don't have to go places. I even walk down to the major road to catch a bus to help my mom. A few months ago that mile and a half seemed impossible. Slow and steady. You'll get there.

You are doing great! You have a good plan. Some exercise, no matter how small, is better than none. Do what you can, break it up into smaller chunks of time if that helps you.

That is wonderful... A lot of us start out really in small steps that lead to bigger and bigger leaps into fitness... I started out at 5 minutes at a time on the treadmill... Great job...

Awesome! I'm planning to ease back into the exercising as soon as my doc clears me for anything more strenuous than walking.

First you crawl, then you walk, then you run. Just tell yourself all I have to do is my best and ease into it. Your body will adjust and learn how to move again and it will get easier in time. It's okay if it feels awkward at first. You will do great!
