I don't normally post a journal entry between weigh-ins, but I wanted to share this with you.
I've had 'elevated' blood pressure for as long as I can remember. I remember being asked by a doctor in the military, after reading my blood pressure, "Have you ever been told you have high blood pressure?" I told him I hadn't, that they'd always just told me that it was the 'high end of normal'. He said, "Well, if it's always at the high end of normal, and never AT normal .. than you've got high blood pressure." I guess I never really looked at it that way before.
Anyway, my blood pressure has always been around 130-ish over 90-ish. Before I went into the military, I used to get nosebleeds at random times, and always thought it was just because I had thin tissue in my nose.
Well, my wife is being treated for high blood pressure, so we monitor her blood pressure on a regular basis. I decided to check mine the past couple days, and was amazed! On Sunday, I registered 117/78, with a pulse of 76 .. and yesterday it read 117/76 with a pulse of 72!
Don't ever let anyone tell you that losing weight doesn't have an effect on your blood pressure .. I'm living proof .. :-)
