Had my monthly check-in with my doctor today. Her scale had me at 187.8 which is officially down just over 150 lb since I started last August 17th. She thinks that this weight is okay for me, but I told her that I want to lose about 10 more over time. She's on board with that, but wants me to seriously up my daily caloric intake. However, I'm supposed to do this without increasing protein or adding too many high-glycemic carbs. Anyway, she wants me to cut my weight loss down to 1 or 1.5 pounds per week at most. That shouldn't be a problem in July, since we're leaving on the 4th of July for a vacation to Great Britain and Iceland and won't be home until the 1st of August. So, no bike, no kayak and a lot of vacation food. I'll be lucky not to put the 150 back on. Anyway, I hope that everyone has a wonderful week.

That vacation sounds wonderful!! Probably loads of walking so no worries. Congrats on your weight loss & maintaining it while being healthy!
I don't know if I can help, but my cat has CKD too & was in failure 5 years ago. Today she's 20 & her #s are normal!
We switched her food (no more dry) & in her wet food we put 1/4 tsp Phos-Bind, which reduces the phosphorus in her food. From their site:
"It works with dietary phosphorus in the bowel to help encourage normal function in the kidneys."
We give her subcutaneous fluids 2x week also, although the Vet said we don't necessarily have to anymore! That's amazing bc we had a cat with CKF & we had to give her fluids 2x DAILY! That was 25 years ago & they didn't have the meds, etc they have now.
But, IMHO, the most important thing is that we added fish oil 3x/day to her diet. We give it to her in capsules so she doesn't taste it.
The change is dramatic!
Obviously, you should ask your Dr about these items & not take the Vet's formulas or give yourself subQ fluids. But you can get fish oil OTC & I don't think it would hurt you, but I'm not a medical expert, so please ask your Dr.
I hope something here can reverse your CKD!
