35(7). I am just accidentally reading about iodine. Maybe that is what I need. We have 2-3 types of seaweed at the big Asian supermarket, but I do not know what type they are, or how to handle. They seem pickled in large containers, bright green, but...is that what I need? Hard to find an English language speaker...to tell you some of the secrets.
I also reading about high fat.

We eat the seaweed that is dry, like a piece of paper.

There should be some seaweed snacks that are individually wrapped and they are only 1 carb each. I like the wasabi ones the best, but you can get several different flavors. If I can't get in a salad, I eat a pack of this...since it is a vegetable! Google seaweed snack...you will see the little packages!

ps...make sure the snack you pick do not have MSG. It's a staller.

Though my thyroid tests show me as in the 'normal' range, I continued to have all of the symptoms of hypothyroidism (I have Hashimoto's), so I decided to start taking Lugol's solution to supplement, since I quit using iodized/refined salt months ago. I found 2% Lugol's online and after taking about half of the little bottle full, starting gradually and up to 8 drops a day (about dropperful), I am seeing finally a real change. More energy, not freezing cold all the time, etc. I told my nurse practitioner what I was doing, as she was really impressed at how my A1c has come down and also my weight. I stopped eating grain and sugar-containing products, although I'm not religious about it and have had the occasional slice of toast, spoonful of raw honey rarely, etc. We're all so unique that what one needs the other may not, BUT when the government established guidelines of thyroid testing levels, it has resulted in a rapidly increasing group of people who's tests are 'normal' but not where they personally need to be. My nurse also knew this and wants me higher in the range, too. Interestingly, she and I have very similar body types and health challenges. She's watching my progress with professional and personal interest now! I live in 'the Goiter Belt' and always have, seafood is very expensive here unless you buy the farmed stuff (I won't) so I can't rely on simple dietary fixes. The Lugol's is something I had administered for years as a nurse to many patients, and it's available online and at some drugstores, though since 'someone' figured out how to add it to meth recipes, it's more difficult to source now. Comes in different strengths, 2%, 5%, and I believe 8%. I started just with 2% and it seems to be adequate. I'm doing so much better since I started listening to my own body and less to conventional (corporate) wisdom.
