Does anyone on here have thyroid issues. I started out having graves Disease had the thyroid nuked and now so hypo. Was wondering what weight loss program you are finding works best for you. It takes me twice as long to lose an ounce. tired of struggling.

My thyroid is just hypo. I'm taking levothyroxine. I jut added Kelp 125 to my vitamin regime and I don't seem to be as hungry. I take one tablet a couple times a day. Once with my Levothyroxine first thing in the morning and then another later by itself during the day. Not sure that's the reason I'm doing better with the diet, tho. You have had a major problem with the nuked thyroid, so I don't know if kelp would help or not. It's pretty cheap so you could give it a try, I guess. I'm not a doctor so look it up on the net. Because of the iodine in it, it is supposed to aid the thyroid. Good luck Tonya,

I had the exact same issue - Graves Disease, then two rounds of radiation. I also take levothyroxine. What has best worked for me now is the Low Carb High Fat ketogenic approach. The exercise in combination with good nutrition has been helping -

I'm hypo also, taking levothyroxine. I do a lot better on low carb/keto than on counting calories or low fat. I feel better. I don't get the "bottom out" that I do when I keep non-veggie carbs in my diet. I used to joke that I get a hangover after a really big cheat day.

I also had hyperthyroid, then had the nuking. I now take levothyroxine. The Low Carb High Fat has been working for me more than anything else had before, and I don't have to exercise too much. I'd probably see more results if I did but its difficult to get it in. I sit all day at my desk for work and live out in the boonies, ( I work from home) so have to drive into town for a gym or even an even surface to walk on. That causes the problem of being out too late and not wanting to cook dinner, therefore eating fast food. So we eliminated the fast food at the cost of getting to the gym more often.

I have Graves Disease also and had radioactive iodine ablation in 2009. My thyroid was so overactive though that it wasn't killed, actually right now it's within normal range. I did have issues with losing weight though because of breast cancer treatment. Atkins worked for me.

I'm hypo too - taking Levothyroxine... LCHF - I stick to Carbs - 10%, Protein 25%, Fats 65% and shoot for 1800 calories per day - I'm in Atkins pre maintenance phase but actually still losing very slowly so I feel like I haven't really settled at my true optimal weight yet. Interestingly I lost the bulk of my weight before Hypo was diagnosed which is supposed to be harder - I credit the LCHF diet with making that possible. Hair and cramping feet have both improved with medication. Good luck to you.

I'm hypothyroid, on levothyroxine 50 micrograms/day. I calorie count, try to get at least 120 grams protein/day and limit carbs to under 150, stay away from sugars and refined carbs. At one point when I ran out of meds and it was month before I could get more my weight loss stalled. It doesn't appear you're logging all your food, at least not on fatsecret. I'd suggest you log everything, otherwise it's not possible to know exactly how much you're eating and the usual tendency is to underestimate what we eat. Wishing you success. :)

You all need to check out a product line from Plexus. I have lost 20 lbs and am off my thyroid meds.
