Happy weekend, FS friends! Watching some obese YouTubers, I noticed how much dressing they drenched over their salads, while claiming it was "2 Tbsps"!!!! More like half cup! None of them used actual measuring spoons, nor weighed it. So, a healthy choice becomes a very high calorie meal. I am an overly "saucy gal", too! I gave away my unopened bottles of dressing. I need to find some FAT FREE options for salads & veggies, even meats. Dairy-free, too! Do you have any ideas?? I do use red wine vinegar & spices; it just seems kinda meh. I want to learn to like "dry salads". High fat condiments (and usually high & sugar sodium, too) really are my weakness. I am guilty of drenching salads & meats, too! Help!

Cooking shows similarly overestimate, I have noticed!
Have you tried 3 parts balsamic vinegar / 1 part *really *good evoo (which itself has a distinctive flavour?)
I used to enjoy “dry” salads, relying on the juice from the chopped tomatoes and cucumber to give enough moisture.

If you like ranch dressing, you can do a low fat, low cal one from scratch with non fat Greek yogurt, fresh herbs and vinegar. There are various recipes on line for it, so I would suggest that.

I usually go 50/50 using a good olive oil (currently trying Olitalia extra virgin olive oil) and Bragg's Apple Cider vinegar and then add in herbs & spices to compliment. Some days I pour the mixture over my salad but other days I keep the dressing in a side dish and dip my fork's worth of salad into it.

I buy Renees 1/2 the fat dressings and measure out 1 tbsp per salad that I have everyday at lunch. They have Caesar and Poppy Seed. I think the key to dressings and sauces, etc. is to MEASURE because it is so easy to overestimate what you are using.

A good friend taught me her secret with salad dressing. She would order it on the side and dip the tines of her fork in the dressing and pick up some salad. That way she got some dressing with every bite but used a lot less dressing.

Echo LeahB11 on using non-fat Greek yogurt to make those creamy dressings. Ranch is great. I also like dipping veggies in dip and have been making tzatziki with non-fat Greek yogurt and love it
