learning...before I left for this vacation I was reminded that it's not about the food, It's about reconnecting with friends. I have really tried to take it to heart. At dinner one night, I skipped the chips, the wine, switched tacos to corn vs flour tortillas, and no guac. But I still had a cookie for dessert, and with a few additions more, ended up at 1900 calories (my goal for weight loss is 1200). But you know what? I'm ok with that. I did not eat like crap at every single meal, I made alot of modifications, and stuck to the "record everything no matter what". I did not use it as a license to "blow it". All 3 days I have gone over, but it has not felt like a binge and I have gotten in terrific hiking and sunshine. At (almost) 50, I learn new things every day. I will come back and probably have a slight gain, but when I land back home tomorrow I will get back on track and not beat myself up. Balance is hard when you are an extremist like me, but I continue to try and with the support of my sister and my friend Patricia, it's ok. I am grateful.
