Swap out the butter, and add some spinach and blueberries to side 1, and you've got 300 calories, 21g protein, 20g carb, 5g fiber, and a far better micronutrient mix in my opinion. Calories are only part of the equation. That being said, everyone has their own preferences and goals. :)

StomachMonkeys ~ love your username!😄 That swap sounds fantastic and is often featured in my breakfasts. When I do these comparisons, I’m cooking for someone else (in addition to myself) and making their food how they like it, showing how I used to eat, or both. Although in this example, I would’ve had at least 4 whole eggs. Right now my body is asking for me to only eat 2mad so I typically eat 700-900 calories for breakfast and I love produce so those things always make an appearance. I agree that calories are only part of the equation but when you’re trying to eat in a deficit, they are at the top of the hierarchy and I’m a “big eater” to boot so volume reigns supreme for me right now but sometimes it doesn’t and I’ll make myself a plate consisting almost exactly of what you suggested (except with the butter 😂).

We actually sound somewhat similar. I have typically been a “big eater” as well. I also play with various fasting styles now and then. I did omad for a long time. While it was an effective way to maintain a deficit, I don’t think it was optimal for maintaining lean mass. But it has its place. Your comparisons are great. I just thought it was worth mentioning the micronutrient portion for the equation for those who may not consider it. 😎

jenjabba ~ whole eggs are fantastic! I call them mother nature’s multivitamin and that’s why I always add a whole egg to my egg whites. The exception being an egg white omelette recipe I enjoy that has spinach and salmon. I’m really enjoying eggs right now because every time I’ve tried the carnivore diet, I’d develop an aversion to eggs (and fish and chicken 🤷🏻‍♀️) and it would takes months after the diet ended to be able to eat eggs again. The yolks are where the party’s at. Plus, the light yellow tint it adds to my egg whites is important to my eyeballs. 😂
