i can't get enough of them either. so i started replacing all other carbs with potatoes. instead of having fries, i would have roasted potatoes.

I have heard that craving potatoes, might be a craving for minerals that are found in the potato skins.

I agree - potatoes=carbs=sugar. Have you tried steaming and mashing caulifower? I use real garlic and good butter...they are yummy and low carb.

it might also be a texture thing. the whole full filling of potatoes cant be contested easily.

You could be craving much worse things, like a slab of butter!

The need for the taste and consistency is driven by the Brain wanting its Sugar fix, just like any addict, you want that shot of dopamine. @schmeterlinge34, a slab of Butter would be much...much better, as it's not resulting in excess blood sugar levels, chronic weight gain, and cardiovascular disease.

If fat, then my choice is coconut. Absolutely delicious and cruel free. Majohn: are you blaming the humble potato for cardiovascular disease?

Potato is a starch/sugar, a simple one at that. By itself, no....but when you eat excess simple sugars, particularly when they are fried, then yes...they and the method of preparation and consumption are at the root of the spike in cardiovascular disease over the past 35 years.

For me rice, potatoes, and pasta are addictive. Mouth hunger takes over, I can't seem to get full of them. I eat them until I hurt and still want more. Pure evil for me! I'm sure that they don't affect everyone this way, but I simply have to abstain.

I think potatoes are the USA's favorite veggie. It is hard to escape. I LOVE em too.
My mama used to peel and slice them and put a little salt on the raw slices and give them to us as she cooked or fried them. It is the one veggie I really miss while doing this LCHF diet.
