I'm having a hard day today. I actually went up 5 oz's two days ago and now at 288.
I woke to the smell of fudge brownies and it really got me bad. I am disabled and live with my Mom and Dad and daughter just turned 18. I wish I could get them not to bake that stuff, buy it ok but the smell made me just wanna be a glutton. I resisted and I am making lentil vegie soup with ham for later, They are getting McDonalds for supper but I'm not tempted by that.
I have fruit but trying to count and figure out what is best is kind of frustrating. I'm also not sure about the pie circle on the bottom of my menu. My rdi is supposed to be 2400 but I haven't been able to eat more than 1100 so I'm confused is the chart for the day of 2400 or as I go?
I have been eating eggs cauliflower, broccoli, steal cut oats (3 times), romaine lettuce for wraps tomatoes (carefully), olive oil for sauteing Chicken, some bacon for flavor or wraps, turkey breast and ham sliced, Cabbage, green olives, strawberries, apples, bananas (easy) stir fry vegies, mushrooms, sweet potato, acorn squash yellow squash zucchini squash and spaghetti squash, lil bit of cheese grated (Parmesan) and sprinkle maybe some small amount of any of these or combined.
Prep is a pain in the butt however when it's only me it rough, my family's getting tired of vegies so I need some support or help!
Easy recipes or quick prep.
My famly is happy I'm loosing weight but I started this to get my blood sugar down and it is but losing weight was a plus! Now I wanna continue!
Lots of people say "have a cheat day or a lil one here or there but I have tried that before and then I fall, I truly believe I am a foodalcholic
HELP!
Oh I eat no white stuff at all, no breads, grains, rice, ect.

Hey doll, try this site out.. http://www.calculator.net/bmi-calculator.html The fat secret site tends to set calorie limits way high for some reason. Mine was 2300 when I did it here. I wouldn't have lost jack this week if I stayed that high. Once you calculate on the site I linked you to, you can manually change your rdi in here if you wish. Best of luck 😊

When you find what works for you, don't listen to anyone else! Everyone is different! I'm a "cheat day" person, myself, but I would never *tell* anyone to do it like I do it. I count calories, and some people would/do say that's silly and not the best way to do things, but....it is what works for me! To me it sounds like you are in a groove, so keep on keepin' on. As for family members...I have 4 kids and a hubby, and, well, frankly they have learned to eat better along with me. If *I* am doing the cooking, they simply have to be content to eat what I fix them. When my older kids fix their own stuff or then when the family has pizza, I make my own little meal separately. I do *not* succumb to eating what they *like*.

Hi Cathy, I think this site will help you a lot. Many here are struggling with weight loss, and there are lots on here that have an extensive knowledge of diet, and so many here are very helpful. I know my diet, which is a marketed diet is about keeping insulin levels, which is tied to sugar, virtually out of the diet, and most on this site are on low carb, low sugar diets. It seems you understand diet, you just need to relieve your impulses, and get consistent. My diet begins with a fasting two week boot camp to get the metabolism straightened out. I'm not an authority here, but have had good results, but I never really worried about diet until my doctor told me to lose weight. Listen to all the info given here, as it will help. Other here have more knowledge about diet than myself. Hope you enjoy it here, and happy dieting!

Cathy, I'll second what Christine suggested for a calorie calculator. It's really easy to use. I checked a few others and that one seems to hit the average of all others. Fat Secret tends to recommend HIGH. Second, do you have or can you get a food scale? I found that I really wasn't that good at estimating what I was eating for some things and the scale really helps. For recipes - everyone has such different tastes! It does sound like everyone in your house is an adult so that helps. What seems to work best for us is just thinking of foods we like - then searching for recipes/thinking of ways to lighten them up. We eat a lot of chicken breasts, go for the leanest ground beef we can and often mix it with lean ground turkey (you'll need to pay close attention to the percentages on the label. Some ground turkey is as high calorie as beef!) Search the recipe archive here as well. Just plug in search terms for a food you think sounds good and check out the recipes. Another fun source for lighter recipes is pinterest.

Also, I just saw a post which reminded me of a member here who has LOTS of good recipes posted. Her name is lettygaylor. Here's an attempted link to her member page: http://www.fatsecret.com/member/lettygaylor If that doesn't work, use the search function to see if you can find her profile. At the bottom of her profile you'll find the recipes she's submitted. They're simple, tasty and family oriented! I've tried quite a few of them.

I'm sticking to under 1500 calories. Have you tried Cool Whip free, tastes great on berries or sugar free pudding or jello and great for cravings. A sweet potato with spray butter is another thing that might help. As far as meals, i live alone but have several crowd pleasing meals. Chili Pie is one that everyone loves. Make brown rice if your family will eat it and mix in shredded 2% milk cheese. Push the mixture into a pie pan and add chili made anyway you like it. Sprinkle a bit more cheese on top and bake until the cheese melts. Another favorite is skinless chicken, potatoes, carrots and onions just tossed into the crockpot with seasoning and a half cup of water. Comes out yummy. Turkey Keilbasa is very low and goes great with red beans. Hope that helps

Some good substitutes for sweets for me... Hot Chocolate (warmed almond milk, chocolate extract and stevia), greek yogurt with Frozen Berries, Chocolate Milk Shake (almond milk, 1/2 frozen banana, chocolate extract/cocoa powder, stevia and ice cubes whizzed on the blender), plain frozen fruit whizzed on a good blender (just like ice cream or sorbet!!)
