I don't know how bad or good I was over the holiday, as I've decided not to be a slave to my scale. I'm weighing in every 2 weeks to make sure I don't go way off course, but that is it. On Thanksgiving I indulged in 2 cinamon buns (very yeasty tasting, not that great) and one roll. I made myself a low carb pumpkin custard which turned out really tasty, so I didn't feel the need to indulge in desserts either. The actual day of Thanksgiving went pretty well. I think this is the first year ever that I didn't feel overfull and sleepy. Everyone tries to tell you it's the turkey (tripofan sp?) but I don't think so. It's all those damn carbs (potatoes, breads, sugary desserts, stuffing ect) That is what puts people to sleep. My dinner was turkey, cauliflower casserole, and a squash/carrot/sweet potato dish and one roll. I didn't eat too much and I never felt bloated, icky or sleepy.
I ate a few cookies, some trail mix, some hummus and a piece of lasagne and a serving of ice cream over the last 5 days, but spaced out over 5 days and several meals I don't think that is too terrrible, and I won't know until I weigh myself Friday. My biggest indulgence over the last 5 days was way to much coffee. Most of it was with splenda, but I drank way too much coffee over the holiday. Even if I gained a bit it doesn't matter much to me, as I can work it right back off by the end of next week.
For the most part I stayed lower carb thru the 5 days. What I really missed was the exercise. The gym I go to was closed Thur and Friday, and with the late night performances and rehearsals on Friday and Saturday, I spent most of my free time trying to catch up on sleep and housework so I never made it to work out.
I was very very glad today was Monday and I could get back to my routine. I got in my swimming and got my low carb foods for breakfast and lunch.
I had been fretting for months now that my weekends are all off and I was worried that I wasn't eating correctly over the weekend cause my sleeping patterns are odd. But I had an epiphany this weekend. Normally M-T I eat three meals and one snack. Friday I push in an extra meal or snack due to being awake till 330 am Saturday, but usually on Sat and Sunday I only eat 2 meals and maybe one snack. I realized that I don't need a third meal on Saturday and Sunday cause I'm not exercising, so I need less food. For months I was worried I wasn't eating enough meals and I didn't even realize that less activity means I need less food, so it's Ok that I only eat Breakfast, a small snack and dinner on Sat & Sunday. Only when I exercise does my body seem to need that 3rd meal.
