I think I'm going to do it...just need to get up the nerve to call it a goal.

There's a 5K race in my community on May 12th. I've seen several web links that state you can go from couch to 5K in 10 weeks. (Some variations say anywhere from 7-12 weeks.) Either way, I have enough time to train...in theory.

It makes me nervous to say that I want to set that as a goal. I ran track in school and did quite well, but I was a sprinter not a distance runner. Longest race I ran was the 200 M. Not to mention that I was in much better shape as a teenager than as an almost 38 year old!

I stopped running track after freshman year of high school, due to having knee surgery. I missed being on the track team and joined again my senior year in HS. Injured my knee the 2nd week of practice...spent my 18th birthday recuperating from yet another knee surgery. Never really tried running again.

If I can figure out a way to do the early training in the snow, I am going to give it a go. Ack...it gives me butterflies in my stomach just typing that. But I can do it...um, I think so anyhow...it's only 3.1 miles, right? (Says the woman who probably couldn't run a half mile at a solid pace right now...eek!)
