The elation of the scale moving only to be then met by the slight uptick and/or not moving. It is just frustrating especially when you are like "my stomach feels slimmer". Now I know that it likely is and that I am getting my exercise in and that can cause muscles hanging on to water while they repair and that can cause a shift in the body dimensions without a move on the scale. Bah! I know all of this, but it is still so frustrating. I took measurements yesterday so I would have something when the scale doesn't move. I have to say that yesterday I felt so great after getting my treadmill time in. I run like a turtle, but that is okay. Got my 3 miles in 45 minutes and I feel pretty good about that. It's funny I started to watch this documentary about healthy eating and it talks about how meats are bad for you and cheese is bad for you and the food pyramid is wrong and carbs don't make you fat and carbs don't make you a diabetic. I just thought to myself then how are these people that are diabetics, who cut their carbs, coming off their medicine? Why is it that when I cut my carbs I lose weight? Why is it when I eat the bad carbs I retain and gain almost immediately. The one true thing in the video is that big pharma wants to make people unhealthy and I guess in a way doctors jobs are to see people and when people are healthy they don't see them. My husband is a diabetic and his doctor says cut the carbs. However, here is this documentary out there...just makes me shake my head. So going to get my 47 year old body up and stretch and get on the treadmill. Sometimes it is a demon...I wish it didn't take so long to burn calories. Ever since I pulled my hip (couple years ago) I don't think it has been completely right since then. I can't seem to do inclines like I did before. Now my doctor told me not to worry about the inclines, but at the same time it does help burn calories. Hopefully, eventually.....with the stretches and exercise my hip will get back right. Hopefully I won't get sick again like I often seem to do and then I can't run...stupid bronchitis and pneumonia. It is icky air quality time here with the fires and we are under alerts. So I use my inhaler and take my vitamins and I will stay on track!!

I've been eating LCHF for 2 years now, and I've lost a lot of weight! But I do think that getting back to veggies and fruits and laying off the meats and cheese ain't a horrible idea... the best diet, is the one that works for you! LCHF helped me tons! We'll see what the newest venture brings!! Good on you for that 3 mile jog! That's awesome!!

I have T2DM and, a couple of years ago, was able to sustain the McDougall Program (vegan, whole foods, no added fat, starch-centered) for about a month. I lost about 15 pounds and my blood sugar and blood pressure responded well. However, the urge to eat sweets overwhelmed my resolve and I put the weight back on. A T2DM patient CANNOT eat "simple sugars" (e.g., anything from cane or beet sugar, honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, etc.), refined wheat goods (e.g., baked goods of all descriptions, white rice, mashed potatoes, refined pastas) -- even if they are "vegan" --and keep blood sugars in check. After all, Oreos are vegan! TO BE CONTINUED...

You can quickly figure out what works for weight loss and health on the McDougall Progrm from the free 10-day, 30-meal plan at drmcdougall[dot]com. Some guides: The person eats NO ADDED FAT FROM ANY SOURCE, NO ANIMAL PRODUCTS, and exclusively eats high-fiber, high-water-content fruits and vegetables (not high-sugar fruit like pineapple) either alone or in salads, soups, and stews (e.g., sweet or hot peppers, celery, fennel, onion of any type, radish, tomatoes, sprouts, etc. you get the idea); high-fiber lower-carb vegetables (broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, eggplant, etc.); "main courses"comprised of recipes using whole foods like potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, whole-grain brown rice, beans, and legumes in tasty "sauces and gravies" made with vegetable broth, herbs, and spices.

And add to all that the leafy greens, of course!

I know it works, and I also know that my body fluctuates with sodium and of course my time of month and so many other things. It just gets frustrating sometimes. Pat, my husband is type 2 diabetic. I cook mostly lower carb/suger/glycemic...but he would prefer to take the meds and not treat it by diet. His choice. On my side of the family there are a lot of type 2 diabetics - I do not want to have that disease. So I will keep moving on and forward. I know my body right now is figuring things out. It responds well to keto and exercise. It already dropped 10# so now it is going to go into the holding pattern and I have to wait it out and persevere. :)
