Day #3 of no sweeteners....guess who tried tartar sauce on their hamburger last night? LOL! Still missing Diet Coke....other things to drink just aren't the same!!! Wah, wah, wah....

After DH's eye appt. this morning, we both took the doggies out for a 1.8-mile walk. I altered my pace in the diary for today because neither of us was setting any speed records. I slept well last night, but was just tired from getting up too early (for me).

Today, in addition to the no sweeteners thing, I'm TRYING to bring my calories back in line. I'm still hungry a lot of the time, so I'm trying to walk the fine line between "eating when I'm hungry" and "eating too much." For these days, if I eat when I'm hungry, I'll easily go over 1400, 1500, even 1600 calories. While I know the typical Atkins range is 1500-1800, my own monthly averages have never been that high! And for good reasons....female, post-menopausal, over 50, not an athlete, etc.

I think by the time I finish this loss journey (if I EVER get there), I'll be so confused about what really and truly works, it will make my head spin! I know that's an exaggeration, because I know, in basic terms, what works. But it's the fine details that get murky when one runs up against a brick wall. I feel I'm close to breaking through again, but that feeling only lasts a few hours sometimes!

With any luck, I'll be able to get into the pool this afternoon. I've been in as far as my thighs and then I chickened out due to the cooler water. But the overall temp is a bit higher today, there's full sun on the water, and I've got the heat pump (heater) on it, so maybe by dinnertime?????? And, for dinner, I'll be grilling again....couple steaks, a few pork chops and some brats.

Day 3 - you are almost halfway there. You can do this - and you will get it figured out! Hope you can get into your pool ASAP. PS - Had to laugh, first at your note to GG. Anyone who has ever had cheese so fresh that it squeaks will know exactly what you meant. The others will remain clueless. Also at your note on the super glue. DH would be so happy - he says I talk too much.

Did I hear you say POOL? I envy you. It's still WAY to chilly to even think about a swim. Hope you had a great day and a WONDERFUL swim. :)

Only 3 1/2 more days..Yahoo..I'm soo jealous of you in your pool...but at the same time I am sooo happy for you..I think you one of those people that will conquer this..its the way you are built..and your right it takes us in our 50's longer to lose..So glad you got a good nights sleep..it really helps..have a great evening..:O)

Hey Sandy, you're doing great with the no sweetener commitment, good for you!! I'm sure part of the reason you may be feeling hungrier is because you've been tired, I know that always happens to me. Keep fighting the good fight, I have NO doubt in my mind that you'll make it!!

Day 3...so by now it's day 4 I hope! I don't know how I got so out of sync? For starters, I am not sure what I think about the tartar sauce on a burger...was it any good? Not being a ketchup person myself, I just like mine plain, or w/cheese or maybe a little mayo. Besides giving up the artificial sweetner & caffeine...add to that DH having yet another eye surgery, I am so glad you finally got a good nights sleep, that should help alot I hope. Just keep doing what you are doing as best as you can. This weight loss journey is just that...a path we are headed on & it's never exactly as straight lined as we would like. Sometimes I don't feel like I will ever get There either. Practicing what we are learning along the way is how we learn to keep the weight off. This is not a diet I keep telling myself & at times I "catch" myself thinking that way. I hope the pool is warm enough for a swim today!

Yes, Laurie, pool season starts early in the South. Got a swim in yesterday and today. Of course, that's with a heater, so I'll have a heart attack when the electric bill comes in the mail!

Bren, today is Day #4 and that's almost done, so just 3 more to go. I have very mixed feelings about this experiment. I wish it would work, so the pounds would drop, but I'm also glad that it's not, so I can go back to eating the foods with sweeteners in them (PLUS beverages!).

Carol, I absolutely believe my hunger is, at least in part, due to the tiredness. Just like trigger foods, I think tiredness is a "trigger condition"!!

GG...wouldn't it be nice if this path were well laid-out and straight and direct? Maybe it's because I'm more aware of it, but it certainly seems like a whole lot of people close to goal are just completely hitting a brick wall! (I'm not talking about those who are going for interim goals or those who've had smaller amounts of weight to lose.) I just don't know what gives!!! I've got a couple books on order that should arrive on Thursday that I'm hoping might give me some insight, or at least another perspective.
