So tonight we go out to one of my favourite restaurants which has been a plan to cover all the missed birthdays & anniversaries for us & our son & daughter-in-law. I have no idea what I will be eating as I will have no choice. It's a blind tasting menu. possible 10 courses with a wine flight. (the courses ARE very small!) It will probably include 2 dessert courses too.
I love this way of eating as we spend the whole meal trying to guess what is in the dish we are eating & usually get it wrong!
The chef is a forager & very experimental. We've had raw potato before & not realised!
At the end of the meal, he comes to the table to discuss the food & gives us a menu showing us what we've had.
I'll post some pictures if I can tomorrow but for now here's a picture of the kind of thing we're likely to eat! (Cherries, Yuzu sake, Wagyu bone marrow.
A dish from a couple of years ago, cherries soaked in yuzu sake, fermented cherry ketchup and aerated bone marrow custard.) It sounds quite pretentious but it's such an experience!
Obviously this is a special occasion. Not something you do every week!
It'll be our last visit until my 70th Birthday when I'm hoping we can get a table again (very difficult!).

It’s a week since I returned from a full on food & booze holiday in the Lake District & today on my first weigh in I’ve managed to get back to within a lb of my pre-holiday weight! I’m happy with that 😊👍🏻 Onwards & downwards I say!
I don't eat breakfast.
I drink 4 pints of water a day.
I have a very light lunch - no bread.
I have meat or fish with vegetables or salad for dinner.
I avoid eating over 50 grams of carbohydrates (no hidden sugars) and only eat good fats like olive oil and butter.
I also allow myself a treat of a couple of tablespoons of double cream with 3 small strawberries and a glass of whiskey in the evening if I want one!
I wanted to add a picture to this but didn't get the option? I like to add pics to my journal to help me remember things but I can't see how to do it now.
