Exercising 5 days a week, eating less than I'm burning in calories. Clothing starting to fit loosely, energy up. All and all good news.

Keeping on keeping on. Exercising 5 days a week, 4 out of 5 days staying under my calorie count. Weekly calorie deficit is approx 1000 calories.
Slowly watching the numbers on the scale go down. Loss is slower on low calorie than low carb, but I don't feel deprived. The fit bit keeps me motivated to exercise more often and eat less as well.

Well I'm down several pounds and having the Fitbit really motivates me to exercise more often. Squeezed myself into my size 14 jeans this morning and yes I could wear them, but they create too much muffin top just yet, so I won't put them into regular rotation until another 5-10 lbs are gone.
The new WOE I'm doing is working fairly well. It's not terribly restrictive, and I can actually eat whatever I want, as long as I burn it off or limit portion size.
the only downside is logging food. No matter what WOE I'm following logging food is is a pain in my ass. But if I don't then I eat badly and forget I ate badly and gain weight.
I'm hoping I can stick with this long term instead of just until I'm back to a better weight.
Have a good Friday!

Back on the train again to fitness and health. The med diet didn't do much for me, mainly cause I didn't stick to it. It's a new year, so lets try try again shall we?
I got myself a fitbit for Christmas and renewed my gym membership last year (which didn't do much considering I didn't push myself) But since I got this fitbit Dec 25th I've made great strides to push myself and actually get in shape. I have a goal, going Kayaking in June so I have to be strong enough to row for two hours at least.
Since the fitbit makes it easy, I'm simply just burning more calories than I take in. In the 13 days I've been on it, only two days did I eat more than I burned. Seeing progress on my fitbit helps motivate me to actually exercise more, I'm competing with myself. If this method doesn't translate to weight loss than I'll be at a loss, because I just cannot do the low carb.

So almost a year since I last posted and my weight has not changed. This is both good and bad. Good that it didn't go up, bad that it hasn't gone down. But I expect magic I suppose, considering I didn't stick to ATKINS more than 4 weeks in Jan (last post) and tried AGAIN in the beginning of October to yet again go LOW CARB. Oh and not to mention the fact that I quit going to the gym an entire year ago, so not really exercising more than dog walking for the last 3 months.
I have learned something about myself. I cannot maintain the low carb WOE for life. It's just not possible for me. And since I cannot stick with it for more than 4-6 weeks at a time, it's not doing a whole hell of a lot for me. Nor should it be.
So anyhow about 2 weeks ago decided (with the urging/suggestion from MOM) that we try the Mediterranean WOE. Did some research and found it wasn't so much different. Still lots of veggies and some lean meats, but more fruit, beans, grains and the complete banishment of artificial EVERYTHING. Sugar and white carbs are still limited and dairy is also limited.
After 3 days of ditching splenda a wonderful thing happened. My knees and joints which had been paining me for the last year completely stopped. When the pain had started I added glucosamine joint care, thinking my issue was just age/use and too much weight on the knees. But after 3 days splenda free and glucosamine free and no pain I decided to google "splenda knee pain" and HOLY MOLEY was there tons of articles about how tons of people had this issue. I never made the connection, but now that I knew what SPLENDA does to me I am never ever putting that crap in my body again.
So I'm doing a modified Med diet, adding coconut oil (instead of olive oil) and also eating smaller more frequent meals.
I'm not going to see huge weight loss this way, however it IS something I can maintain long term and if I want the lbs to melt back off I gotta get my butt back in the gym (which I'm buying a membership for xmas)
