Finally broke under 180 lbs. My mom told me I am middle-aged crazy and it is just a phase (exercising and eating healthy). How's that for positive support? Seriously, I don't think she is insensitive, but it sure burned my bridges. If I didn't have respect for my mom, I would have surely went into a bombastic dialogue about the benefits of limiting fat intake and loading up on veggies and fruits. Thomas Jefferson said "That meat was meant to be an accompaniment to the vegetables". And I don't think there is any doctor out there who will dispute the fact that exercise is not good for you. I mean my dad was very overweight his whole life before he passed away with a bad heart, high blood pressure, and diabetes. My sister is clinically obese (and so are her kids). My mom used to be overweight, but she lost a lot of weight due to depression after my father's death. Sorry for the rant, but even though I'm older and a director in a company, comments like that from my mom still hurt my feelings.
At least, I have my FS buddies for support.
