You think it is a rash from low carb? I think I have some people think that they may be reacting to the ketones being evaporated out. If so more carbs should ease it up. Good luck!

I am not sure but it's worth a try.

Consider as you increase carbs you may also decrease fat. If you’re not burning those ketones for energy your fat intake may be too high. Just a thought.

Ccrai22-
I hope you are able to figure it out. Being itchy is not fun that's for sure.

Kenna is right. The one time I dropped my carbs really low, I got a really weird rash on my arm for days. As soon as I restarted eating normally, the rash disappeared on its own.

Ccrai22– this part of the reason why it is important to do a little homework on your own so you have a solid idea what can be expected and what may be experienced by some. Most DIETS have some aspect to them that might not be recommended for a certain portion of the population. For instance, intermittent fasting has some potential drawbacks for women. Lots of good info out there on the internet

Kenna,
There is so much on the internet. It is hard to know where to find reliable information.

I would say stay away from You Tube. Dr Eric Westman and Amy Berger have written a book called “End Your Carb Confusion”. Westman is a researcher who treats obesity. The book is not all keto but addresses styles of low carb eating if that’s what you want to do. I can tell you low carb without worrying about ketosis is easier and effective. I hope you find a way that works for you and makes you feel good.

Thank you Mariefille I will check out that book. Carbs especially homemade bread and bowls of pasta with cheese are 2 of my favorite things. I just need to learn to portion size and use willpower!!

Oh my goodness I got a rash about 2 weeks ago and it literally drove me crazy itchy at first. Now it’s just a rash no itching but I have drastically dropped my carb intake around a month ago.

There are excellent medical based sites on the internet. The more you read the more you begin to develop a sense of legitimacy. The Mayo Clinic, John’s Hopkins. When I post anything related to the issues people here are dealing with I always try to make sure that the site from whence the article came is clearly visible. Disregard anything that comes from the Enquirer, People Magazine or is endorsed by movie stars, athletes or rock stars. Probably “fake news”.

keto rash takes about a month to go away it's very common and is just your body adjusting to the diet. it's not harmful just irritating. it is from the extra ammonia being made by converting stored fats for fuel. comes out in urine and sweat.

So....should I leave my carbs what they were or bump them up?
30 jan 21 door lid: lindsaylue

Honestly I would just keep doing what your doing. Changing the amount of carbs will not help the rash much and could hinder your progress. But you know your body best and should do what you feel is right for you.

IF your rash is a keto side effect increasing your carbs will indeed improve the situation. You may have to just try it. You may also need to just Google it, pick a few of the articles that come up and see what the recommendations are for increasing the carbs or if, in your case, it might be an undesirable side effect that makes your eating choice not sustainable for you.
