i do not understand how i can excercise every day and have a calorie deficit of 700 and still gain two pounds. I just..... Dont get it. I never eat fake food, i never even cheat... I control myself and still i am gaining weight? This is the ultimate frustration.

The only thung to chamge is that i am at 33.5" when i was at 34.5" two weeks ago, but what does that even mean? 160 is so much!!! I understand gaining muscle, but to have my weight stay the same!?! I have plenty of fat to loose!

I am having trouble telling myself that all my hard work means something.....

Mine always fluctuates around a couple of pounds. I'll drop three, gain two, drop one, get it back, drop three.... It's a process.

Are your clothes fitting the same? I don't have a lot of experience as a vegetarian but sometimes a lot dairy/cheese can make it hard to lose. Hopefully some vegetarians will chime in to help! Good Luck!

You can't expect to lose weight really quickly. Well, I'm a vegetarian and I lost over 20lbs. My problem was, eating too fast, eating carbs at night and eating too much cheese and dairy. Just take your time and eat slower, drink more and exercise... You'll see that 700 calorie deficit after a month, just be really patient. I also didn't notice any results at first and it took me three months and now everyone says I look better! Good luck!

Hope I'm not butting in rudely, but the number on the scale is not a accurate gauge of your progress. It can't tell the difference between fat, muscle and bone. Let alone stomach contents. Want the number on the scale to go over a pound easily? Drink two cups of water. As Rckc said, look to how your clothes are fitting. And as GentlewoodFarms said, weight fluctuates, so trends are more important than day to day fluctuations. Most of all, don't despair.

Sometimes I'll go through phases where the scale won't budge, but my jeans will fit better. The scale is a great tool, but definitely not the only tool. You're doing great by also taking measurements... Losing an inch is awesome! Hang in there, and stay focused. Eventually the scale will report lower numbers. Who knows, you may even get a "whoosh" and drop a few pounds suddenly 🙂

GOOGLE and article titled, "Why the Scale Lies" and learn more about the fluctuations - the scale is relative - I go by inches lost, clothes and bodyfat percentage.

Everyone beat me to it! The scale can definitely be a frustrating hurdle, but as already pointed out by the ever awesome FS community, there are a TON of factors that can play into it (one that I don't think anyone mentioned is the simple mechanics of the scale! Electronic ones can give erroneous readings when the batteries run low, and the other type wear down over time). Chin up, we're all fighting the same battle <3

Don't let it get you down. You can and will reach your goals! I have found the journal to help, and I always make sure I stay positive with my writing. I then use this to look back at when I am having a bad day or need extra support.

What I'm about to say is not popular and I'm not looking for an argument... Weight loss is more than calories in calories out. Look into Low carb, high fat diets that have a focus on lowering insulin levels. Insulin in a hormone that encourages fat storage in the body, when you eat carbs (sugar, bread, etc.) your insulin spikes and your body will hold onto fat. You can also look up 16:8 fasting, or 5:2 fasting. This will help regulate hormone levels in your body that play a huge part to weight loss.

Beans, you already answred your own question. you just need to face it and accept it now. You are gaining lean Body mass AND a little water. And losing fat. So, which do you want? to lose fat? or to lose weight? If you keep training eventually the scale AND fat will drop at the same time. But your body needs to reach what ever amount of muscle you are going to stop at first. And No 160 is not a lot. I weigh that +200 pounds. lol. You are on golden road. Just keep training and eventually the scale will go DOWN again. Trust me and DONT give up.

Beans, if you are exercising hard (weightlifting, calisthenics...) you should be gaining muscles and losing fat, but cardiovascular exercise doesn't have this effect. You might be in a "metabolic grave", google the concept and see if it fits with your experience. Also, measure yourself regularly and you'll see if your progress is good or not, beyond your weight.
