Day 1, new me on the way. I didn't have a doctor recommending for me to lose weight, i just started feeling very off center and decided if I want to live much longer I have to do this. I am a broken down disabled Veteran and fearing I will drop dead if I don't turn this fat train around, will be tough with my back issues. I broke it in Germany in 1982, so any supportive friends would be fantastic.

Good luck to you HBV! I've had back issues off and on most of my life. Not fun at all. That reminds me, I need to work on my core. Have you decided how you are going to attack the weight loss yet?

@PoulC, I am working on it, cutting down on sugars, extra salt and reducing my calorie intake to around 1600, along with adjusting my diet to support wise weight loss.

@ PoulC - I have everything calculated on my notebook and may add in here lat a later point, not sure how all that works yet. Just stumbled upon this site while looking up a Chicken Thigh of all things... 1280 Cal today, thus far and maybe something lite before days end.

Hi and welcome! I was about 50 or 60 lbs overweight in October and I guess I wore it well as nobody ever perceived of me as being " fat" although I did notice that as my body broke down my level of activity came to a happy grinding halt and my weight went up each year until I was pre diabetic, feeling yucky and facing both shoulders and both knees needing full joint replacements! I decided.. I'm not going into this in this kind of shape.. and I joined FatSecret and scrolled around reading people's stories and such.. I started counting every calorie , and when the scale didn't move at 1500 calories a day, I dropped it to 1300.. I got rid of bread but started buying healthier foods and eating less useless calories.. I gave up my beloved Pepsi and find I don't really miss it! I then joined a pool.. and since they have a 90 degree therapeutic pool.. I started by walking back and forth.. I am now doing laps.. and walking my dog 2.5 miles each evening.. I HATE exercise but .. it's true.. everything now feels better!! Your back, like my joints witthank you so much for each pound you drop. Good luck and stick with it!
