I am fat...there is no way to massage that! I keep wanting to change the snack habit, but man it is so difficult. I want to ditch the carbs, but bread or an equivalent is the easy breakfast or lunch. I want to go for more veggies, but there is another person here to consider and he won't go there.
How can I get out of this rut, I need someone to talk to, to show me the way out.

Hi Snow on the mountains! It looks like we are very close to the same weight. I know how crappy I have been feeling in the last couple of years and am TIRED of looking at photographs of myself and thinking URGHHHHHH!!! It has only been a couple of weeks and I am noticing changes! I feel so much better, and my cloths are noticeably looser! I have went to my own diet of 5 small meals a day and trying to keep calories at about 1250 per day. I too have family in my home that do not want to eat what I am eating. I've found repetition to be my greatest help. I know what and how much to have of certain foods. When I leave for work I grab the items I have either precooked or precut. It takes the temptation out of just grabbing a burger! I KNOW we can do this!!! I'm here to bounce ideas off of and together we can share some ideas I am sure! Mitzi

I'm gonna give you some tough love girl. If you want something bad enough, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse. You are making excuse. Buy fruits and veggies in smaller amounts for yourself. Don't worry about the other person. You have tons of options for breakfast and lunch. You can have yogurt and fruit, cereal and fruit, a breakfast sandwich with a light english muffin, some egg beaters and a slice of cheese. You can buy cut up veggies and have it with light dressing or hummus. You can take regular food and lighten it up. Get a food scale, some measuring cups and spoons. Some great sites for recipes: Cookinglight.com, Emilybites.com, Skinnytaste.com, Slenderkitchen.com Skinnykitchen.com If you want to do low carb, get a book out of the library that will show you how or look for sites online. This is about you taking control and taking care of yourself. If the other person doesn't like what you make, they can get it themselves (unless they are a child). You can do it. Take control and plan. Get some fitness magazines and read them for motivation and information. You control your own destiny. Now get to it and no more excuses.

hi snow on the mountain I too am fat and my husband isn't helping me either ... he just got over cancer treatments and he wont even try to get back to normal hes had a feeding tube for 3 months and sometimes I feel like he will have it forever and he wont do it himself I have to always feed him... im so tired of the stress of him having that but he just sits and smiles and he knows im going nuts... I have been trying also to lose the carbs and its hard .. im a night time snacker but I try to snack healthy so I don't bring it in the house ... im addicted to ice cream so I never bring it home and if I do I wind up throwing half of the carton away I get so disgusted with myself .... I need help too so we can write and encourage each other and hope to hear from anyone who can write me and help us both get to our goals.... thanks Maggie 64

Carbs and fats love each other...they also adore US. The are fast, easy, full of flavor, comfort, salt and usually finger foods to grab and run...only down side is what they DO to us. You are all right! We have to find substitutes. Protein shakes (grab and go--premier brand on line or at Sam's club taste great), string cheese (I like Borden's best),a slice of deli meat wrapped around a pickle, cheese, or anything else, . Focus on protein and fresh veggies then a side of fruit. Is your family not cooperating or are they actively sabatoging you? U know I spelled that wrong!. How about sugar free popcicles, sugar free fudge bars, sugar free pudding cups (add a big dolup of dream whip to the top and it is primo!) Think, plan, have stuff ready and waiting for yourself so you have backup when you need it. Just don't quit and don't give up. Suzi161 listed some great web sites--thanks! Bonnie
