Sherillynn's Logboek, 01 jul 11

I had another busy day off, on the farm. Worked in the garden until 11AM and then it became too warm to really be out side in the heat. The garden is looking wonderful. Everyday it seems to be growing by leaps and bounds.
I squared away the new beehive a little bit yesterday. Pulled out the junk that was in the top box from the move as well as all of the extra pieces of comb. It got them a little riled up but by evening they were back to normal again. I'm still not sure if I got a queen or not but I'll check next week and see if I have brood.
I also found a bunch of used bee equipment on Craig's list. Its only 3.5 hours from my house and the price is reasonable so I just might see if I can swing it. It'll keep until next spring when I can add more hives. Thr price seems fair, too.
My husband was finishing up making hay yesterday in one of the pastures and then I think today they start in another one. The heat is good for that but he sure was tired and maybe a little bit *cranky* last night. I tried to just stay out of his way. Hopefully, today won't be quite as much of a scorcher and his mood will improve.
Owl is going well. Slow and steady. No real big screw ups on carbs. I've eaten a few things that aren't really Atkins approved over the past week but nothing major. Mostly just tastes. If I stay sensible, I can stay in control.
