I decided today that I am going to sign up for my first 5K and I'm really excited! I've never run for 3 miles straight without walking portions of it but that is going to be my new goal. I'm signing up for the Race for the Cure with my work's team and I figure this is the perfect chance to start setting higher standards for myself. I figure why walk it when I know I can run it!!
I'm going to start adding training to my regular work outs using the Couch-to-5K program and hopefully will be able to build my way up to running the entire thing. YAY!
Did I mention that I'm excited? Because I am!

I've weighed myself a few times over the last week and haven't really seen any change at all! Evey time I jump on my scale at home it reads exactly 200.8 with no fluctuation at all. What is that? I know I am overreacting and it's only been a week but it is hard not to get discouraged. I want to see some progress! I'm putting in the work!
I hope this week goes better for me but I am also trying to focus on more than the numbers. I feel much better than I did a few months ago, I sleep better, and I have more confidence. I know that I am losing weight and the people around me have made comments to that effect. My exercise is getting easier, I can run faster and longer, I can lift more weight, and I feel comfortable pushing myself more. It's not all about the number on the scale right?
Don't get discouraged, don't get discouraged, don't get discouraged...

Was hoping to see a smaller number on the scale this morning...muscles maybe?

I had a much bigger lunch today than I normally do...I wanted to get rid of some left-overs. It's kind of nice to feel like I don't have to snack this afternoon (I usually eat something small about 2 hours after lunch) and I can just have a small dinner. If it were easier to bring to/make food at work I would have a bigger lunch everyday and skimp out on my dinners instead. Not like last night when I had a pretty big dinner and didn't feel great about it. Oh well, I'm staying below my RDI anyway.
I am excited for my workout today! Even if I have to fight a few undergrads at the gym.
