I am not losing weight as fast as I would like because I haven't been able to change my diet enough to get lower than 1800 - 2000 calories a day. I know that one pound a week is good and healthy but I have a lot to lose. I am working on moving more and hope to add water aerobics this summer. I also need to start planning meals better so that I am not eating as many convenience foods. I have been practicing portion control but I need to eat more veggies and salads and less fried and pre-packaged junk. Did good last night though. I made a roast but filled my plate (a smaller 8 inch round rather than the bigger dinner plates) with broccoli, cauliflower and baked asparagus with a 4 oz portion of meat and just a spoonful of potatoes. The pizza on Friday night tasted good but I noticed that it left me feeling still hungry. Not enough fiber and protein I guess.

I was doing okay staying under 2000 until we ate out and then I didn't go over too much. Didn't lose anything this week (mostly due to not being able to say no to dessert that church members keep making and giving to us). I am not usually a late night snacker but those desserts were calling my name, LOUDLY. I think the lack of weight loss wasn't because of eating too much since I still stayed within a decent calorie intake but because I ate the snacks so late at night. That has to end. I have never been a late night snacker and I don't want to start that bad habit when I am working so hard to end others.

Have cut back on calories. Not quite where I want to be for the optimal weight loss. But better. Actually declined a cookie. I need to start adding more veggies/fruit and lean protein. I am starting by adding veggies that I can snack on at work. Bell pepper, cucumbers, baby carrots, snow peas, broccoli. I did by some fat free ranch for the broccoli. I need to get some healthy nuts like almonds and some low fat greek yogurt. It is hard to change habits though so a little at a time and I will eventually make it there. I don't just want to lose weight, I want to change my eating habits for life and as an example for my children so hopefully they will also make good healthy choices.
