Still feeling good about things so far. Really wanted to stop by Five Guys after work for a hamburger and fries, but realizing just how many extra unnecessary calories I'd be looking at, I resisted. Did nibble on some of the Asian Mix snack I keep in the car while I'm working, but only 3 little fingers, then put them away.

Going to treat myself with an omelet and 1 piece of wheat toast for breakfast today. I put baby red, yellow and orange peppers, scallions and 1 oz of shredded cheese in it and it's totally satisfying and filling.

I could go in and do some Lyft runs today, but I pretty much exhausted myself the last week, although I did make my largest paycheck ever since I started driving. It's enough at this time to take the day and relax some.

To those who served and never made it home, we honor you and your family's sacrifice this Memorial Day 2021.

Day 3, it's looking good so far. Two days in a row I've also woken up feeling good, which for me is a major thing. I'm always logy and disconnected first thing when I wake up. I actually felt like getting on with the day right out of bed. Yay!

Last two days, breakfast was a poached egg on dry wheat toast, I'm learning not to use all the "extras" that I like to put in my foods (buttered toast as opposed to dry, measuring the sour cream instead of just plopping it on, etc) and this morning (afternoon, since I didn't get to sleep until after 5 AM, but it's MY morning) made a turkey/cheese tortilla. I bought a weight scale awhile back for calculating weights on postage for my Etsy sales, but it's also perfect for food measuring. 10" flour tortilla (I'm looking into low cal/low fat options), two slices Kirkland oven roasted turkey breast, 1 Tbsp sour cream and 1 oz of Mexican Mix shredded cheese. All under 400 KCal, so I'm good with that.

I'm also finding I like the slightly "not overfull/gorged" feeling I get when I don't overdo the meals. Don't get me wrong, I love my food, but hate feeling like I just swallowed a whole watermelon when getting up from a meal.

Today is a good day. Gonna go do some Lyft. Busy out there with more things opening up and, of course, Memorial Day weekend. Everyone be good to yourself!

So, 2 days in and down 4 lbs. Mostly water weight, I'm sure, but I'll take it for now. Found that one of the bigger reasons for the huge weight spite (not discounting Covid) was the fact that I take a container of snacks with me while I'm driving for Lyft. Cheez-its, peanuts, almonds, rice cracker mix, fritos and a few other random things. Mix it up so there's a variety, but end up mindlessly munching on it in between rides. Mostly carbs, which doesn't help. Averages about 2 cups a day, then come home from work and munch some more. Only way to go with this is continually UP!

I've now just allowed myself the recommended serving size of, say, Cheez-its and no more. ONLY 2 pecan shortbread cookies for dessert. Drink more water. I need to keep this up, so very determined.

Had a health checkup (once a year, free through United Healthcare/AARP, they come to the house), the nurse said for someone my age, I only need between 1200 and 1600 calories a day to maintain a healthy weight. If I had to guess, I'd say I was probably kicking in 3-4KC a day without thinking about it, hence the huge gain. Mindless eating...it'll get you every time!
