As part of my goal to live a healthier life, I made an appointment for a checkup with a doctor. I haven't been to any doctor in several years. I didn't tell him how long or that I haven't had women's tests done in maybe tenish years. He wanted lab work completed before the visit and I knew it wouldn't be good. I've suspected for a time that I am a diabetic but hey if you don't know, it isn't real, right!!!

Well one of the tattle-tail tests, something called an A1C or something like that said I was a 13. I guess 13 isn't like being a 10 on the beauty scale. On this test, you want to be below 7. This test can somehow tell how you have been for the past THREE months. I think that is very unfair. I have eaten so well this month. He shouldn't be able to look further in the past. What happened to the days you could be really good the week before the doctor's visit, pass everything with flying colors, and then go back to your pre-checkup diet and behavior???

So now I am on medicine. Metform. Twice a day. I don't like pills. I tend to ignore them but I will take the darn things. But I think they are messing up my system. My body doesn't like them and it is letting me know. I hope if I continue eating well the doctor will be so impressed that he will apologize for forcing me on the pills, admit he was wrong, and tell me they are not necessary. I can dream!

I make teensy goals for each month. For Feb I will continue my goal of one pound a month. In Feb I am going to concentrate on doing some type of exercise every day for at least 5 minutes. I know that doesn't sound like much but I consider it a way to get into the habit, to carve out time, to explore what activities I might enjoy or at worse be willing to suffer through.

I have labs at 9 am today. it's a fasting lab so no breakfast. I hope drinking water is okay because I already drank about 8 oz. I know they will weigh me, wish I weighed a lot less but it is what it is.

Busy day today, the lab in the morning, mom's dr in the afternoon, bank, mailbox, pick up dry cleaning, hit Ulta and target, then pick up groceries. We ate lunch at a new place and it wasn't very good so I only ate half at the most. A bit later I started cramping and had to stop in the road to throw up. Chipped my teeth =/. Was sick again when we went to pick up the groceries and threw up everything left in my stomach. We didn't do the last errand, get a new battery for the car's key flob.

Not the best of days.. but not the worse. I'm wondering if I got a touch of food poisoning or if I've gotten COVID. I haven't gotten the COVID test results yet.

Change that .. got my COVID test and I am positive.

Today I was supposed to eat my freebie meal. I've been looking forward to it all week. We went to Cheddar's and after studying the menu forever I decided on a small sirloin steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans... more calories than I've been eating but still not too bad. Unfortunately, while I ordered medium rare, the steak came very well done. Since this was a special meal I sent it back. It came out the second time well done, again. The poor server offered to try again but I told her not to worry about it. I only ate half of everything (except green bears) so I wouldn't have to count it as my free meal. I'll pick a different place in a few days.

I weighed in this morning even though it wasn't my weigh-in day because I wanted to have an idea of how I was doing. I've lost another pound! Which motivated me not to blow it today. I have no idea what I'm going to eat tonight. Maybe I'll pull out a piece of frozen fish as that thaws quickly.
