Went for a four mile walk with my wife and kids on Saturday. A beautiful day and walk. Next day - sore feet and left knee; left knee still sore today. My wife, kind soul that she is, attributes the soreness to wearing the wrong kind of shoes. True, but real problem is that I'm in terrible shape! Bought a fancy recumbent exercise bike last month. Each day, I look at it, it looks at me, I look at it, it looks at me -- but I have not yet rode it. Keep making excuses why I can't ride it -- I work too late, I work too early, my knee hurts, my stomach is upset, I think I'm going to throw up, etc. Why can't I just get on the freaking bike and exercise?! I think I have a phobia about exercise. I know I need it for health reasons and if I am going to continue to lose significant weight each month, but I just dread the thought. Oh well, this weekend I leave for my Caribbean vacation and when I return the following week, I am sure that I will have to overcome my phobias and work off all that Island food I am praying I will not succumb to. On the bright side -- 35 lbs down! Yeah! No, I will not go crazy on vacation. I have worked too hard to lose the 35 lbs. In fact, I hope to lose 2-3 lbs while on vacation. Wish me luck!

I don't know that this will work for you, but I like to set mine up right infront of my TV, so if I sit on the couch it is in the way, LOL so then I end up sitting on the bike, and i figure if I am already there then I might as well start peddling to. It works for me not sure if it will work for you but worth a try. And wtg on the the weight you have already lost, just try to think about that when all the food is around!

Madsuburbandad you're doing great!! I had the same phobia about my elliptical machine...I finally got over it (2 years later!!). For awhile it was a clothes line and a dust colector, now it is my best friend! We spend alot of time together. My husband does not have such a close friendship with it thou. It is like they have staring contests and the elliptical machine seems to lose all the time. We are just in different mind sets. If the weather is nice..go for walks! Start with a mile and the work your way up to another one. I also a bad knee and ankle and we go for a hour walk every nite...the first week wasn't the best for me, but now I look forward to it every nite. Have fun on your vacation!! Don't sweat the small stuff!!

You're doing great, if you can just add that exercise, you might find that you'll feel even better. Good luck.

Yea on the weight loss! And I so with you on the phobia thing. When I do work out it is to pilates in my living room and I won't let my husband in the room till I am done, lol.
