Needs-to-lose's Logboek, 04 sep 13

I don't know what weight to record. I weighed myself at home this morning and it said 276, when I was weighed at the doctors this afternoon their scale said 271. So I'm at odds at what weight to record. Any suggestions? I've also been so busy today that I have had no breakfast and no lunch. Although I did break my "No Soda" challenge and had a small root beer float. :(

Unless you're going to the doctor on a regular basis and he's working with you on your program, use the weight at home. We all know those scales are always higher then ours at home. Plus, we usually do it first thing in the morning in the buff. Well,I do anyway. That's why when I go to the doctor I ask if I can get undressed and weigh in naked. They refuse. pfft.

You need to pick one scale as your "official" scale and use that. Scales are all calibrated differently and you can get a different reading on each one. Doctors scales should be calibrated a lot because so many people are on them, but many don't. For the most accurate reading, keep the same scale, same place (don't move it around-flooring affects the scale), same clothes, same time of day, etc. I usually do morning after waking up, before eating or drinking anything and after going to the bathroom. The scale will fluctuate all day long with the foods you eat and drink, sodium, medications, hormones, exercise, etc. As long as your chart has a mostly downward spiral, you are doing okay.
