Bloated, constipated, miserable. Overdid greens and veggies this weekend. Tummy gurgling up a storm and I know I'm in for some relief soon. I think my true weight is close to 190 even though the scale is saying 192 this AM.

Well, whatever. That's why I average my weights weekly, for exactly this situation. I discovered today that Red Robin has a phone app that allows you to customize your food by removing the bread from the French Onion soup and lowering the carbs to 5g, and customizing every single menu item they have. Woo hoo!

McDonald's has the same thing. Say what you want about McD's, but at least they allow you to tweak their items so you can see what you're getting. And I will reward places like McD's and Red Robin for being so forward thinking by eating there more often now that I know exactly what I'm getting!

I needed this BS week like a moose needs a hat rack!

Talk about a week that really tests your ability to undergo stress. Two of the organizations I belong to really let me down this week. I'm the Vice President of the Gay Chamber of Commerce here in town and I've been doing hard work on the Board for nearly 4 years. I was told this week that they hoped I didn't have my sights set on being President of the Chamber for the following year because I'm not gay.

Wow, really? I'm not sure how that effects my ability to lead a board meeting and make announcements at the mixers (pretty much all the President does). But hey, it's okay to use me all these years doing the grunt work and have me for a year as VP, as long as I don't get too big for my britches.

I'll be stepping down from this organization in August 2015, whose vision statement reads, "Our vision is to connect, promote and build prosperity by embracing all members of our community to make a positive difference."

Embracing all members. Yeah right. As long as they don't want to be in leadership positions. Good to know. I should mention that the group has a CEO who truly "leads" the group and the President is a figurehead position for Board meetings and mixers. The CEO is someone who likes me but said that members came to him with "concern" that I might wish to step up as President and that it worried that because I'm straight. I shrugged and told him, "Sorry, I was born this way." I wanted to go on to ask him why they even allow straight members at all, let alone on the Board if there is all this concern, but I kept my mouth shut.

Then in another organization, the Fundraising chair took off for a month and left me holding the bag for the holiday party and when I wrote her an email to ask about it, she said, "I'm on vacation. Leave me alone." Ohhhhh Kayyyy!

I must have a sign on my ass that says "Kick me" this week. In the year since I started my journey, this was the first week where there were at least half a dozen times I just wanted to go eat something bad, but I realized it wouldn't help, and it would piss me off later for letting these jerks make me lose my focus and do something stupid.

And whether or not you agree that I'd make a good President of this gay group or not isn't the point - the point is that this week SUCKED and I wanted to stress eat but didn't, so yay me!

Then my cell phone died. Sounds like no big deal, but as a business owner, I rely on it get calls for work. I got a new pone overnighted, but setting it up is such a pain, getting it just the way I had it before. Luckily, I had all my stuff backed up to the cloud.

Okay, that's my rant. I'm down to 190.5, a good low for me, so I will take that to the bank and cash it before the universe decides to take it back! LOL!

All I can say is thank God for my FS pals who keep me up and motivated among all this other stupid stuff! Have a great weekend everyone and stick to your guns - don't let idiots in your life cause you to eat things you don't really want to!! If so, then they win! :(

I wish I could fully explain the true magic of eating a high fat ketogenic diet and how it turns off my appetite like a switch. I'm satisfied for hours. My energy level is steady like a rock. The other day I ate at 11AM and didn't even thing about food again until 7:30PM, and that only because I was feeding Mark. I've never experienced anything like it. My doctor approves, and my numbers are good. My blood sugar remains stubbornly high, but that will come with time, patience and medication tweaks.

It took about a month to fully kick in for me, and that was after about 10 days of carb flu. But I believe my IR had a lot to do with that. If someone were to back off carbs gradually and give up refined sugar completely, it would probably happen for them in a matter of days, not weeks once they fully committed to a ketogenic food plan. I really think I can sustain this after I lose my weight. I will have to find my carb tolerance and see what I have daily, but it seems to be very low, about 25g/day, at least for ketosis. For weight loss, that could be another story. Not willing to experiment there. I'm only willing to do this until I get to within 10 pounds of my goal, then I can mess around and see where I am at that time.

Now that I have this, I wouldn't give it up for love, money, ice cream, cookies or bread. Ever. So not worth it. I feel great and I've never had my appetite so under control before. I've never left food on my plate before. Ever. Ever!! I now give it to the dog so it doesn't go to waste. LOL!!

Steady at 191. At this rate, I should be 187-188 by Halloween at which point I can have some Russell Stover sugar free candy if I so desire. Went to the gym last night in spite of exhaustion and my gadget said I burned 448 calories in 90 minutes, so I will take that!

I discovered a low carb taco shell. You microwave a round piece of provolone cheese 40 seconds on a paper plate, wait a few seconds, then peel up the edge until you can lift it and fold it in half into a taco shell shape. It will cool that way. Then you can stuff it with beef, pork, cheese, sour cream, lettuce and other low carb goodies for a carb-free taco night! I found this on youtube. Excited not to have to give up tacos on Atkins. I'll bet I can figure out substitutions for nearly everything I like. I'm going to experiment with pizza crust made of Parmesan and cream cheese next.
