Finally, I’ve reached my goal. It took a long time. Now I’m ready to move into phase 3 of SBD and the challenge is not to gain it back.

When I was 58 years old and I was over weight, with a chronic back ache, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and in real bad shape. I had a hard time walking. I would get so tired. When I went grocery shopping, I grabbed a cart just to use as a walker. That was 8 years ago.

I decided to start doing some back exercises. Then several months later, I joined a gym. I started with spin class because I could not walk on the treadmill. I thought that all I had to do was sit down and peddle on the bike. How wrong I was! I was surprised to see that they stand in spin class. It took me several months to be able to stand because my thighs were just not strong enough.

I now go to the gym 5 days a week and take spin class and body pump and sometimes other classes that are offered. I do pilates or yoga every morning at home. I still can’t get myself to do those machines, I find them so boring, but I will never quit the gym. I hope to be going well into my 70s. I even find a gym when I travel. I think that it is the most important part of my health and my weight maintenance.

In December, I discovered that I also have diabetes. This gave me more incentive to work even harder to watch my diet and weight..

I decided not to journal, because my food, exercise, and weight chart are already right here on fatsecret and I can’t see repeating it in my journal. Thanks to the support of my buddies here, I know that I can stick to my plan and I am willing to talk and help anyone on their journey. I know it is not easy, it is a decision that only each of us has to make for our self. I’ll still be logging in to keep in touch of everyone here. My personality is that I would rather listen than talk.
