Ok, so today I had a dessert I should have never opened my mouth to let it enter. It was rich and sweet, but I learned I really do not like those kinds of sweets anymore. My changing palate no longer wants the rich and the sweet (unless it's a man!!!!) I notice that there are little things that make me smile when I eat them, like a nice honeycrip apple. Ever have one? They are the hugest apples I have ever seen, so I have to eat only half at a time, but they are simply the tastiest apples I have ever eaten. And they have to be that good, cuz they cost almost $3 a pound for them. I got three of them today and it cost me over $7. Now THAT'S an expensive apple! I went shopping today and got cheese and whole grain crackers for my lunches at school, as well as some cherry tomatoes and shredded carrots and celery sticks to supplement my meal as well. I am trying to incorporate more veggies into my diet. I try not to eat a lot of fruit with all the sugar, but tomatoes are a fruit so I guess I am getting both veggies AND fruits. I also bought some granola bars which I have to be careful with, I tend to want to eat the whole box. I am working on more whole grains, more protein, and more fruits and veggies. I might also try to incorporate some low fat or fat free dairy into my diet as well. I usually buy plastic cups so I don't have to wash regular cups, and the ones I have been getting are 12 ounce. Next month, when I get my paper products, I will get 8 ounce cups, so I will stick to an actual serving of milk. With these little changes, I may be able to cut down my caloric intake without even missing much of what I have been taking in. I mean, seriously, would my body really NOTICE if I do not have that extra 4 ounces of milk? I really doubt it. Going smaller in a plate wouldn't be so bad an idea either. I am rockin' now!

I am doing pretty good right now on my diet plan. I have not gone over the allotted amount of 2000 calories for 13 days. This is what OAers call Abstinence. I feel pretty abstinent right now, I have not been in the junk food in almost two weeks and it feels pretty damn good. I wouldn't say I am perfect, I slipped a snack into a couple meals here and there, but for the most part, the only thing I am doing differently is following a food plan: 3 meals a day, 0 snacks in between, and 1 day at a time. OA calls it the 301 plan, which is easy to remember. If I have a snack that is unhealthy, I just make it part of the meal, the dessert. I DO NOT do this often, I have done it twice in the last 13 days, and I am sure I will do it once or twice more in the next 13, but the most important factor for me is staying under those 2000 calories. And hey, in just these past 13 days, I've lost 6 more pounds. A total of 19. I am proud of myself!
